Dacia Stepway

Dacia StepwayLooking for something with rugged looks and is tall? Given the uprise in in SUV lookalikes being sold that a lot of buyers do!

The reasons for this upward trend are style and practicability which has seen a range of 4 x 4 and super minis adopt over the last few years, even seeing some 4 x 4 manufacturers producing affordable two-wheel drive models.

None will however be as affordable as Dacias new Sandero Stepway which come with a range of very economical engines, very low insurance and purchase price. The Stepway follows hot on the heals of the Sandero Supermini launched during the early part of 2013. with an unrivalled combination of price and space.

Dacia once made cars in Rumania under Licence from Renault but are now owned by Renault

The Sandero Stepway Engines feature in the latest Clio Range, a choice of the TCe90 turbocharged  petrol or the hugely popular and even more frugal dCi 90 turbo diesel producing 90bhp. Model for model the petrol engines is £1000 cheaper, but the diesel is more likely to be the more popular as a a result of its better fuel economy.

The Dacia Stepway is very spacious and roomy and looks big! that is because it is 40mm higher which Dacia says will cope better with the rough roads... Dacia must have been thinking of all the pot holes around England.... The Dacia Stepway boasts 4 x4 style protective skid plate sin the front and rear bumpers and add too a beefier suspension.

The cabin is spacious for five adults and a big boot for its class, and extends even further with the split/fold seats.

There are two trim levels for the Stepway, Ambience and Laureate which cost around £600 more than the basic model. The ambience has a radio c/w CD and Bluetooth plus fingertip controls on the steering wheel.

It has a full safety package such as front and side airbags and traction & stability control systems. along with brake assist. The Dacia Stepway also has tinted windows, rear wash wipe, electric front windows and front fog lights.

The Flagship Laureate is the one that Dacia and Renault expect most purchasers will go for with its better equipped options. It is great value  for money as it includes upgraded trim, height adjustable seat belts and steering wheel, cruise control with adjustable speed limiter, electrically heated and adjustable mirrors, air conditioning and a multi functional trip computer system with satelite navigation.
